Training tips

So I wanted to make a post to just help dog owners train their four legged friends. I am not an actual dog trainer, but I have learned a few methods of training dogs. I am all about the inducive training methods and making it fun for the dog. It may take longer, but it's better than punishing a dog or giving harsh corrections to a dog. Before you can even start training the dog you have to teach the dog the wanted behavior. For example, if I wanted to teach a dog how to sit, I would use a reward (treat/food) and set it on a surface that is level to his head. I would have the dog on leash and have the reward right in front of him to where he can almost reach it.  The dog will keep pulling and trying to reach it and you just have to wait him out. He will sit out of frustration and that is when you will say "good" and allow him to get the reward. As you continue these trails the dog will realize that everytime he sits he gets the reward. You then will start saying sit everytime he sits. So this all goes back to TEACH, TRAIN,  AND PROOF. You teach teach the dog, then you train him, and you proof him. I hope this was helpful, and I will do another post of clear signals training soon!
